OLD hands and feet no longer have to be an issue this winter thanks to a new shop which opened in Malton on Monday.
Scarborough-born TV presenter and journalist Selina Scott chose Malton to be the home of her new shop, Selina Scott’s Socks, which offers a wide range of goat hair socks, cashmere gloves and other treats to keep you warm this winter.
Ms Scott said: “I am delighted to be opening a shop in Malton, one of Ryedale’s most picturesque market towns. My socks are made from silky mohair, so feet stay fresh, warm and odourless. They even help keep feet cool in the summer, one of the many advantages of using a natural material such as mohair.”
People who have poor circulation, chilblains, diabetes and varicose veins have said they have benefited from wearing the socks, according to Ms Scott. The socks are made in the UK and have even been worn at Captain Scott’s hut on the Antarctic Continent.
Ms Scott said: “Malton is the ideal location to open my sock shop, nestled in The Shambles alongside other independent outlets and skilled craftspeople.”
