CHRISTMAS shoppers are being encouraged to buy locally and support Norton traders.
In the run-up to the festive season, anyone spending £5 in a participating shop or business will be in with a chance of winning a hamper.
To enter people need to visit the town’s website www.nortononderwent.co.uk and print off a voucher that they can then take into any participating store in Norton.
If they spend £5, it will be signed by the staff. They then need to drop off their entry at Corks and Cans in Commercial Street for a chance to win the hamper.
Participating stores will display a poster and include Norton Pet Shop, Norton Video shop, Norton Hardware, Restyle, Boom, Trophy & Print, Fletcher’s, PB Butchers, Miller’s fruit & veg, Corks & Cans, Next Steps, Ming Yan’s and many others.
The hamper will be made up of items donated by the businesses and the draw will take place at the Christmas lights event at the Derwent Arms, on Friday, November 29, from 4pm.
Choirs from Norton Primary School and Norton College will be performing along with the White Star Band followed by the arrival of Santa at 6pm for the switch-on. There will also be fairground rides and hot food available from Next Steps.
