CHRISTMAS came early to Castle Howard for their Christmas fair in aid of the NSPCC.

Cashmere jumpers, handmade chocolates painted with reindeers and giant scented candles were among the 60 stalls at this year’s fair.

With 35 new stalls added to the line up retailers had travelled from across the country to come to the iconic house with some coming from as far as Fife and Oxfordshire.

Committee member Kate Patmore said: “You really can buy something for absolutely everyone for everyone in the family. Although you end up coming to buy Christmas presents but end up buying things for yourself.”

The fair, which has been held at Castle Howard for the past 10 years, raised £35,000 for the NSPCC last year and committee members said they are hoping to beat that this year.

Committee member Karen Storey said: “The interest for the fair seems to be building year on year which is great.”
