A new exhibition by multi-award-winning author and illustrator, Catherine Rayner, is coming to Nunnington Hall for the summer.

Catherine has written over 20 books for children and illustrated many more for other well-known authors, including Julia Donaldson and Michael Morpurgo.

Nunnington’s exhibition will be the largest-ever display of Catherine’s original work.

It will explore many of her much-loved characters, which have been adapted for musicals, television and theatre.

As visitors explore the exhibition, they will spot all kinds of creatures, from the kingfishers inspired by the local wildlife found at Nunnington, to tigers from far off lands - they may even discover dragons and unicorns if they look carefully. Visitors can find some of Catherine's favourite books to read, fun and creative activities to have a go at, as well as a selection of Catherine's sketchbooks used to create her favourite characters.

Hannah Highsted, visitor experience officer at Nunnington Hall said: We’re really excited to be showing Catherine’s artwork at Nunnington Hall. As well as admiring the artwork, visitors can get creative with activity sheets and step by step drawing guides, and step outdoors to find more characters with our fun family garden trail. Visitors can find tips and hints around the garden to get inspired and help nature at home. Visitors can also enjoy garden games on the lawn, relax in the deckchairs and have a go at archery on Tuesdays and Thursdays throughout the summer holidays."

There is no need to book to see the exhibition, which runs until Sunday, September 5.
