A POP-UP outdoor gin cinema is set to return to Scarborough this week.

Nightflix Gin Cinema will run from June 18-20 and then August 27-30, with films starting between 3pm and 7.30pm, at Bramcote Playing Field in Scarborough.

The gin festival which doubles up as an outdoor cinema is billed as an "immersive outdoor experience which will screen classic films on its outdoor LED screen."

Screenings include some of the most popular musicals of recent years, including: Mamma Mia, A Star is Born, and The Greatest Showman, along with classics such as Grease and Dirty Dancing.

Viewers can enjoy a wide range of gins and mixers, along with a fully stocked bar with a range of soft drinks. There will also be a selection of hot food and sweet treats available.

The event is seated and viewers have the choice of hiring a deck chair, giant beanbag or bring their own chair to settle down for the film.

Gates open one hour before the films start time and under-18s must be accompanied by an adult and meet the film's age rating.

All current social distancing measures will be in place, with track and trace in operation.

The event will also be supporting the Saint Catherine’s Hospice, which provides care throughout North and East Yorkshire. All of its services are provided free of charge, meaning it relies on fundraising to help reach the £5.5million a year it costs to care for its patients.

Susan Stephenson, Communications and Marketing Manager at Saint Catherine’s, said: “We are delighted that Nightflix Gin Cinema will be once again supporting Saint Catherine’s with its outdoor cinema events at Bramcote Playing Field. Donations from our supporters out in the community are vital in ensuring that we can continue to provide outstanding care, free of charge, to patients and their families.”
