TWO new trails around Scarborough and the town’s Rotunda Museum will celebrate the work of William Smith, known as the father of modern geology, and his nephew John Phillips, also a noted geologist.
The Rotunda Trail, a short walk around the Rotunda Museum, points out many exhibits connected to Smith and Phillips. A longer circular walk, The William Smith Trail, lasts two to three hours and visits many points of both historical and geological relevance to the pair around the town.
The longer, outdoor walk has been put together by Scarborough geologist Peter Robinson.
The trails are detailed in a new weatherproof booklet, which is available for a £5 refundable deposit at the start point for both trails, the Rotunda Museum reception desk.
