THE team at a York ice cream business is celebrating after being shortlisted for a prestigious award for Yorkshire businesses.
Acaster Malbis based Yorvale has reached the final in the food and drink manufacturer category of the Insider's Made in Yorkshire awards that will be judged in March.
Director Lesley Buxton said she was delighted with the shortlist success.
"Although we have a thriving business both nationally and internationally, we are a family business based in the heart of Yorkshire and we are very proud to be a finalist in this prestigious regional competition," she said.
Yorvale is one of three finalists in the food and drink manufacturer category and will find out whether they have won at a black tie dinner at the Royal Armouries Hall in Leeds on March 3.
The winners of each of the seven categories automatically go through to Insider's national Made in the UK Awards Dinner, which forms part of the International Festival for Business 2016.
This year's finalists were judged by an independent panel of experts comprising June Smith, external affairs manager at EEF, Medilink director Jason Brannan, IoD regional director Natalie Sykes, Stephen Gregory, Pera Consulting regional manager, and Dave Belmont, company secretary at Acorn Stairlifts.
Yorvale has been producing ice cream from its farm based business for 26 years. Its ice cream is also available nationwide via selected wholesalers and from independent retailers, visitor attractions and supermarkets throughout Yorkshire.
