ANNIE returns to her home in Ireland when her domineering father dies and discovers that he has left her his house.
She was sent to school in England at an early age after her mother died in mysterious circumstances and was told never to mention her again, so she knows that the house will be full of memories and unanswered questions.
When she finds someone who can tell her what happened she realises that some things are better not knowing, but will she stay and make a life in Ireland or return to England?
This poignant story is a wonderful read with its clear and precise writing that has us entranced. The characters and situation are believable and we can put ourselves in Annie’s position, so we are eager to discover what decisions she makes.
Written by one of Ireland’s most gifted writers, this is a book I can willingly recommend.
