A FAMILY-run business has expanded to Pickering.

Wm McIvor & Son, which has stores in Northallerton and Ferryhill, County Durham, has officially opened its third agriculture shop in Thornton Road.

The business has served the agricultural and equestrian community for more than 50 years.

Now in the third generation, the North Yorkshire company provides agricultural, equine and pet supplies, both in store and online.

Owner Jason McIvor, manager Lee Atkinson and equestrian expert, Carole Easton, are on-hand to offer advice in the Pickering shop.

“Starting with my grandfather, William McIvor, the business has been passed through three generations and eventually landing on me, the grandson,” said Jason.

“Although we are known for our equine supplies, we offer a comprehensive range of agricultural and pet products at competitive prices. I have a knowledgeable team in Lee and Carole, with years of experience and always ready and willing to help.

“Although horse-racing was cancelled because of the coronavirus outbreak, which is a good source of business, the farming industry has not been too affected.

“More and more people are shopping locally, which has provided a massive boost to family-run businesses like ourselves.

“We are excited to build our stock, establish more contacts and welcome customers into our friendly shop in Pickering.”

Wm McIvor & Son is open between 8.30am and 5.30pm on weekdays, and Saturday until noon.
