A NORTH Yorkshire business has launched a new product.

The team at Yorkshire Rapeseed Oil, which is based in Thixendale, has increased its range of rapeseed oil-based products with the launch of a new mayonnaise.

Launched at York Feed Festival recently, the new tartare sauce is made from rapeseed oil that was recently awarded two stars at the Great Taste Awards, combined with gherkins, pickled onions and capers.

The latest addition to the 24-strong range of Yorkshire Rapeseed Oil products was developed by Jason Thompson.

“2020 has been a very challenging year for small businesses like ours and the temptation might have been not to invest in new products, but to wait and see how things develop,” he said.

“We decided to forge ahead with our new product development programme to give our customers something new, different and delicious and early signs are that they’re not disappointed. It is the perfect accompaniment to take any fish or seafood dish up a notch. Try it alongside fish and chips, scampi and calamari.”

Yorkshire Rapeseed Oil was established in 2008 by Adam and Jennie Palmer on their farm in the heart of the Yorkshire Wolds. They produce a range of oils, dressings and mayonnaise based on their rapeseed oil that is produced from home and Yorkshire Wolds grown rape that is pressed, blended, bottled and labelled on the family farm.

The sauce is available online at yorkshirerapeseedoil.co.uk and from independent retailers in Yorkshire.

The Tartare Sauce sells for £3.50 for 190g, is gluten and GM free and is suitable for vegetarians.
