NFU Mutual is celebrating their employees who support the community.

The rural insurer, which established an employee volunteering scheme, offers staff the opportunity to dedicate one working day each year to volunteering.

While many volunteering opportunities have been postponed during the coronavirus pandemic, NFU Mutual introduced the opportunity for staff to volunteer for the NHS.

Mike Addison, a financial adviser covering the Vale of York, used his volunteering day last month with the Yorkshire Ambulance Service to undertake training on patient care.

Mike also supports the ambulance service by volunteering as a community first responder, helping to free up the blue light ambulances to concentrate on critical calls.

“It’s times like these that you can stand by your values and NFU Mutual helps employees do that,” said Mike

“You cannot change the event, but you can ask what you can do to help.

“It’s a great feeling to know you may have saved someone’s life by a simple action.”
