YOUNG farmers came home with a huge haul of trophies from one of the most significant livestock events in the farming calendar.

The English Winter Fair, held at Staffordshire County Showground, is one of the country’s largest national winter primestock show. The event sees young farmers putting their stockjudging skills to the test, with different counties competing. Yorkshire scooped a creditable third place, with the home county of Staffordshire taking overall top spot. Yorkshire won the intermediate team and was third in the senior competition.

An individual win was posted by Evie Harrison-Bradley, from Kirkbymoorside YFC, in the individual intermediate pig live and carcase judging. Evie also took first place in the “live only” section.
