SCAMPSTON Hall is to host its first Yorkshire Traction Engine Rally this weekend.

Exhibits, including more than 30 full-sized steam engines, as well as a number of fairground organs, are expected to come from all over the UK to the event on Saturday and Sunday.

The Scarborough Fair Collection will also be present and will include its stage show, which will feature dancers and singers.

Another highlight of the event will be the tractor pulling arena. Tractors of all shapes and sizes, including highly modified tractors, will see how far they can pull the sledge.

Adjacent to the tractor pulling arena will be a display of numerous vintage tractors supported by stationary engines.

Vintage entries will also include classic cars, vintage commercials, including lorries, buses and fire engines, pre-1978 motorcycles and military vehicles.

These exhibits will have static positions around the event, but also participate in main arena parades. An action packed arena programme will start at 10am and run until 5pm.

Performing in the main arena will be Ben Potters Birds of Prey Displays. They will be free flying magnificent Eagles and Vultures, showing their amazing skills and unique rapport with these beautiful birds.

The day will also have plenty for children, with both old time and modern funfairs, quad bike rides, a giant inflatable slide and castles, miniature ride on railway, land train, parrot display, donkey rides, face painting and trampolines.

Visitors will be able to browse through the vast array of trade stands and visit the indoor craft, gift and fine food marquee. Also, visit the autojumble plots to find that missing part at bargain prices.

And while taking in all of the sights and sounds, the licensed bar and catering outlets will be serving up refreshments.

Gates open at 10am and close at 5pm each day. For more information, outdoorshows.co.uk.
