PLANS are underway for this year's Ryedale Show.

The annual event will be held on Tuesday, July 25, at Welburn Park, Kirkbymoorside and the Show Presidents will be William and Doreen Curtis of Wythes Farm, Kirby Mills. William has been involved with the Show for many years and Doreen has also helped steward within the Produce marquee. Their son, William, will also be this year’s Show Chairman.

This year's main sponsors are Ryedale Auctioneers, based in Kirkbymoorside.

Owner Angus Ashworth, said: “We are local auctioneers with an international audience and are proud to have been able to support the Ryedale Show in this way."

Secretary Christine Thompson said they were very grateful for Ryedale Auctioneers' support.

"As we continuously update our Schedule to reflect today’s demands and requirements, several additions and amendments have been made to classes within the Horse, Sheep and Children’s Sections."

• There are now classes for in-hand and ridden Veteran horses (aged 15 years and over). These are open to horses and ponies of any breed and height and are split into age categories: Diamond Veteran (25 years and over), Veteran (20-24 years) and Pre-Veteran (15-19 years).

• Due to ever increasing numbers we have had to place a limit on sheep entries in that exhibitors can now only make 2 entries per class.

• The age categories within the Children’s Section also now reflect the actual School Years.

Christine said: "A new Trophy has kindly been donated to the Trade Stand Section. The Eddie Clifford Trophy has been presented by the Clifford family of Great Barugh in memory of their son. As Eddie had a great interest in the innovation of farm machinery, this trophy will be awarded to the Best Agricultural Machinery Stand on the day."

Nominations for The Annual Agricultural Award are also invited each year to the Show Office with a closing date of 1st June 1. The nominee can be anyone connected with farming from within the Ryedale area.
