RILLINGTON Young Farmers Club held its annual ploughing match at Sherburn.

The ploughing match was a success with 85 tractors competing.

However, the ploughing match would not have been able to happen without the help of some of the members of Rillington YFC and all the kind sponsors which included, Hornsea meat's - Swinton, R Yates and Sons, Cundalls, Bolton & Coopers Stephensons, Malton, Woods of Kirkbymoorside, Mr M Douglas, A bite on the side catering van and GM Stephensons. Many thanks also to Mr J Cousins for letting members use his land.

With so many ploughers, the competition was stiff, so the judges had a hard decision judging the six classes. The judges were Mr L Miller, Mr C Daniels, Mr J Jackson, Mr T Vasey, Mr B Lunn and Mr E Lunn. A big thank you goes to them all for giving up their time to judge.

Well done to all the ploughmen, particularly P Strickland who came first in the Reversible section with 129 points, R Ingram who won the Classic section with 193 points, Berryman who won first in Vintage Hydraulic with 164 points, J Witty who came first in the Conventional with 194 points and E Jones who won the Vintage Trailed with 164 points.
