Just Jack IV scored an impressive victory when making his dressage debut, under Eldon Trotter, at Manor Farm, Thornthorpe, on Sunday.
The four-year-old skewbald gelding took the top honours in the introductory test on his first-ever competitive attempt, and looks an exciting prospect for the future.
Eldon has produced this young horse since buying him earlier in the year and his efforts have certainly paid off as he begins to reap the rewards. The combination also finished among the ribbons in the preliminary test when taking sixth place amid some strong competition.
Event organiser Tracey Clarkson made the decision to split the preliminary test into two sections to accommodate a high volume of entries.
A well-polished performance by Wendy Bulmer riding C’est si Bon took the honours in the first section, while section two went the way of Alison Hinchcliffe riding Supersplash.
Jess Johnson, from Terrington, took on the senior riders and triumphed to secure a clear victory in the novice section riding her talented bay gelding, Mr Boyze.
