THE 124th Malton Show attracted a bumper entry in the equestrian classes, which resulted in some strong competition.

Seven-year-old Isabella Worthington made the journey from Bradford, with pony Roselle Rebecca, to take The Candlelighters Alexander Wilcox Memorial Shield as winner of the BSPS/Ponies UK Lead Rein Pony Summer Championship.

This stylish partnership went on to take the Mini Champion title, for which they received the Hamilton-Smith Cup and qualified for the BSPS Daunt Champion of Champions.

Suzannah Dunn, of Hovingham, gave a great performance to clinch top spot in the WHP Nursery Stakes and then went on to clinch the Mini Working Hunter Ponies Champion title on her own Mockbeggar William II. Jane Williams, of Pickering, rode Peaceful Promise to take the top spot in the Local Working Hunter class. Peaceful Promise was bred by owner Vivien Swift, of Great Barugh.

Heather Hume, of Amotherby, took second place in the Racehorse to Riding Horse section amid some very strong competition, riding handsome gelding Bond Playboy.

The first two prize winners in this class go forward to the Championship at the Hickstead Derby Meeting in 2011.
