MALTON District Riding Club members enjoyed a great weekend at the British Riding Club’s Area Summer Show, which took place at Richmond Equestrian Centre.

Taking overall second place in the junior dressage competition and qualifying for the national championships in Lincoln were Alice Laughton riding Little Man, Katherine Holmes on Iceford Toffee, Sophie Lear on Manor Gunn and Suzannah Dunn with Mockbeggar William. Suzannah was the overall individual winner in her arena.

The Malton club’s other junior team took a very creditable third place in the dressage. It comprised Jess Johnson riding Mr Boysie, Emily Sellers on Tiger Bay Basil, Amy Small on Caroworth Pencam and Callum Small with Briardale Rainbow Quest. Callum was the individual winner in his arena.

The junior style jumping team of Alice Laughton and Little Man, Amy Small on Polar Park, Jess Johnson riding Mr Boysie and Sophie Lear on Manor Gunn finished in third.

The junior intermediate show jumping team finished in fifth place.

The seniors were not to be outdone and the riding test team finished in second place and has also qualified for the Lincoln championships. The team was Jo Midgley and Lampos, Kat Wood on Boot Up, Katie Brickman riding Moonlight Matilda and club chairwoman Nicky Lyons, who also took individual first place riding her own Tiger Bay Basil.

The senior intermediate showjumping team took second place in the class.
