Blinkbonny Prince Harry looks set to shine under saddle, following a win at the Coloured Horse and Pony Society (CHAPS) Northern Regional Show held at Sedgefield racecourse on Saturday.
Harry is homebred and produced by Norton-based Tessa Nelson, who has previously experienced much success showing him in-hand.
Tessa is delighted that Harry now looks like being as equally successful in ridden classes and Saturday’s victory has ensured qualification for the Ponies UK Summer Championships and also the CHAPS Ridden Championships being held at Arena UK in September.
The previous week, Harry was awarded a placing in his first attempt at ridden showing, at the White Rose County Show, Temple Newsam, where he also won the open in-hand coloured class. He then went on to take the top spot in the coloured championship.
To top it all, Harry was awarded reserve Supreme Show Champion, a well-deserved reward for a great performance.
This weekend sees Harry attempt his first Young Event Horse class, the Burghley qualifier at Hambleton Show, Carlton Husthwaite, on Sunday.
