North Ryedale Riding Club’s junior novice team had cause to celebrate on Sunday after winning the British Riding Club’s Area 4 Show Cross, at Epworth Equestrian near Doncaster.

North Ryedale’s team comprised Jack Teal and Trigger Happy, Hannah Milner on Chance, William Easterby with Matley Merlin II and Amy Milburn on Loughnatousa Orange.

Each rider completed a round of showjumping prior to a cross country round, with an optimum time being set over the whole course.

For Jack Teal it was a double celebration as, not only did the team win the novice event, Jack and Trigger Happy were the individual winners overall. A fabulous achievement as there was some very strong competition.

Malton District Riding Club’s junior novice team earned a very respectable fourth place in the competition. They were Callum Small on Briardale Rainbow Quest, Sophie Lear with Manor Gunn, Alice Hesmondhalgh and Kosmic Clover and Kristina Withers on Amber Gold.

Malton’s senior novice team comprising Kat Wood with Boot Up, Rachel Denny riding Eric, Katie Brickman on Moonlight Matilda and Claire Spencer with Ashfield Primrose, remained unplaced but put up a valiant effort.

Malton club wishes Claire Spencer a speedy recovery following an unfortunate incident at the last obstacle on the cross country phase.
