BRITISH Eventing has kicked off with JAS – jumping and style – at Bishop Burton College.
The competition involves a round of showjumps and portable cross-country jumps in one arena against the clock, with the horse and rider’s style taken into account by the judge, along with knock-down faults and fast timing.
It’s a good chance to polish up the jumping and fitness side for those getting prepared for the start of the British Eventing season on March 1.
In the BE 90 section there were fewer than three marks between the first three competitors, with rider Katie Stephens-Grandy, from West Heslerton, putting on a fabulous clear round but finishing in third place after accruing two time penalties.
Results were: BE 90 – 1 Eliza Yeardley & Prince VIII, 2 Chloe Bell & West Star Classic, 3 Katie Stephens & Hey Mr Sandman, 4 Phoebe Powell & Pilgrim, 5 Katie Lovell & Gortfadda Lad, 6 Eleanor Mercer & Marbridge Imp.
