CHILDREN at care being encouraged to develop a love of books with a new reading scheme.
The Friends of Terrington Primary (FOTS) have raised more than £2,000 to buy a selection of new titles, including fiction and non-fiction, as well as subscribe to an online library.
Teacher Philip Jach said the school had approached the FOTS who had been delighted to help fund the project.
“Our old range of books wasn’t great, but through the funds we have been able to bring in a new selection to titles to suit all interests,” he said.
“We have also been able to use an online reading scheme, whereby each child has a login and can access a library of books, including questions and activities.”
Mr Jach said the children had been very excited with the new reading scheme.
“They have soon got into it and are really on board,” he said. “Above all the aim is to encourage the children to read more and to enjoy it.”
