YOU can bet your bottom dollar you will have an entertaining evening at Ryedale School’s production of the popular musical Annie.

With a cast of more than 60 students, from Years 7 to 11, the production also involves many more backstage, in the orchestra, set design and front of house.

Set in 1930s New York during The Great Depression, brave young Annie is forced to live a life of misery and torment at Miss Hannigan’s orphanage.

Determined to find her real parents, her luck changes when she is chosen to spend Christmas at the residence of famous billionaire, Oliver Warbuck. However, spiteful Miss Hannigan has other ideas and hatches a plan to spoil Annie’s search.

Andrew Moxon, the school’s head of drama, said: “The cast have been terrific, as has been support from staff and parents, and I am sure that the show will be a resounding success.

“We’ve had a lot of fun in rehearsals and we hope that this comes across on stage. Please do come and support talented young people in the local community who have worked really hard. We guarantee an entertaining evening.”

Annie will be performed at Ryedale School hall, from Monday, March 23 to Thursday, March 26, at 6.30pm. Tickets are £7 for adults and £4 for those in full-time education. For details, phone 01439 771665 or email info@ryedale.n-yorks.sch.uk
