A POPULAR school dinner supervisor has been thanked after 40 years at the same school.
Irene Allen joined Kirkbymoorside Primary School in 1975 at its old site in Tinley Garth before moving to the new school in Westfields.
Headteacher Gill Hardacre said the staff and pupils had wanted to do something to celebrate Irene’s long service.
“We had a celebration cake and the children made a big card with all their names and pictures in it,” she said.
Mrs Hardacre said Irene was now serving dinners to a second generation of pupils and knew many of their parents.
“She is a well loved member of staff and very popular with the children, they love her to bits,” she said.
