LOCAL businesses are being encouraged to get involved in Malton's Monthly Food Market which gets underway in March.

The first market of the new season takes place on Saturday , March 14, in conjunction with the annual Yorkshire Cajun and Zydeco Festival.

Traders are now being invited to apply to take part in the monthly foodie events which include chef demonstrations and the Malton CIC café, along with a wide selection of food and drink stalls selling the best Yorkshire produce.

Tom Naylor-Leyland, director of Malton Monthly Food Market, said: “We’re looking forward to the market returning for another great year of delicious food and drink in Malton.

“Last year we had an excellent selection of stalls attending the monthly markets and we introduced the idea of two different chef demos in the cookery theatre in the Milton Rooms, showcasing local culinary talent.

He added: “The Malton Monthly Food Market formula really works and we will be introducing some fresh ideas, for 2015, which will be announced in due course.

“Regular and new stallholders are encouraged to apply for what is sure to be a year of exciting markets here in Yorkshire’s Food Capital.”
