NINE is the number of the day tomorrow as an organisation set up to support micro-businesses hosts if first global #MicroBizMattersDay.

Launched in 2012 by Scarborough entrepreneurs Tony Robinson and Tina Boden, Enterprise Rockers works to support and raise awareness of micro-businesses, defined as companies with nine employees or less.

Tomorrow, on January 9, MicroBizMattersDay is asking companies to spend nine minutes supporting micro-businesses as part of a global day of social action.

Mr Robinson said: "The Enterprise Rockers movement has already achieved a great deal to make life better for micro enterprise owners but much more can be done.

"Micro enterprises create most new jobs, and most innovation so the future success of micro enterprise is in everyone’s best interest."

Suggested actions for the day are grouped into three categories; customers, cashflow and chat.

Ms Boden said: "While nine minutes out of the day doesn’t seem like a lot, it’s a large enough timeframe to really help make a difference to a micro business owner.

"From joining a support group, to paying outstanding bills, signing a petition to support a local business or posting a tweet, the power of plenty means nine short minutes can have a big impact."
