A FORMER council worker has embarked on a new and unusual career, completely retraining to set up her own home improvement business.
At the age of 55, Lynn Kennedy, of Malton, decided that she had had enough of sitting at a desk and wanted to retrain to do something more physical. After 10 years as the trade waste officer at Ryedale District Council, she set up Grout ‘n’ Tile Revive in May, hoping to put the wow factor back in to stone and tiled-floors throughout people’s homes and commercial properties.
She said: “I just decided that I wanted to do something more physical and I have always enjoyed doing DIY, so I went on several training courses and decided that this was what I wanted to do.
“I like paying attention to detail as well so this seemed like the ideal business for me to go in to. I like it because you can see something transform and it really does put the wow factor back in to it.”
Lynn said that with Grout ‘n’ Tile Revive uses a sealer to protect the grout, a process which is so far relatively unused in the UK.
Lynn also replaces tiles, silicone and cleans and seals stone or tiled floors.
