COUNTRY WALK: Penistone Hill over Haworth

PENISTONE Hill is only a very short (but steep!) walk from Haworth, the home of the Brontë sisters. Penistone itself is an interesting place to explore but this walk is much improved by extending it on to the wild moors that so inspired the writings of the three sisters.

IN SWALEDALE lies the pretty market town of Reeth and the neighbouring side valley of Arkengarthdale. A walk up the valley and returning over Low Reeth Moor makes a satisfying day and a greater understanding of the area.

COUNTRY WALK: Ilkley Moor

A STROLL on the moors above Ilkley. The moor is festooned with numerous paths and it is easy to vary the length of this walk but on a brisk windy day it is a perfect walk to remove the cobwebs.

COUNTRY WALK: The Hole of Horcum

TUCKED away in the eastern North York Moors is a geological gem with some interesting walking. Start with the drop in to the ‘Hole’ and then follow it up with some airy moorland walking along Levisham Moor.

COUNTRY WALK: River Nidd

DOWNSTREAM from Pateley Bridge the River Nidd makes its way through gentle countryside and pretty villages, a complete contrast to the wilder moors further upstream. It is a place to take your time and explore.

COUNTRY WALK: Fountain's Fell

SANDWICHED between the Yorkshire Three Peaks and the Wharfedale Three Peaks lies a splendid peak with great views across both ranges.

COUNTRY WALK: Aysgarth Falls and Carperby

THIS short walk visits one of the most popular sites in the Yorkshire Dales, the lovely Aysgarth Falls. Complete the walk by heading through some farmland to Carperby, an idyllic small village.
