When we moved to Duggleby over 20 years ago Bob made us so welcome and very quickly became a regular visitor for a cup of tea most mornings as he walked "around the town!". He appeared to love being with the kids, helping us in the garden and just generally being around, I just hope he realised how much happiness and love he brought to our family. I had the honour, and I don't use that word lightly, of taking him racing to Wetherby and Market Rasen, taking him over the Humber Bridge which he had never seen and as we were passing we called in to Monks Cross shopping centre, he was amazed!! Bob may have never really travelled far from his birthplace but he was, and should be, an inspiration to me and many others in that he was content, a lesson many of us need to learn. He went to London once for a day in 1953 on "t'old rattler" for the coronation celebrations, he couldn't understand me liking the place or going weekly, "too busy for me" he would say ( and that was 1953)!! Bob completely made our time in Duggleby very special. We left Duggleby a long time ago and often when passing would call in and see him but over time and with the pressures of life that became less and less, I'm more than annoyed and upset with myself for not seeing him in the last few years and now its too late. I'm so sorry Bob, you deserved more from me. Rest in Peace in the knowledge you have always been and always will be in mine and my family's thoughts. Sincere condolences to Wendy and all our love Arthur and family xx
