A NEW comedy filmed on location in Rosedale and Farndale in the North York Moors has started on ITV.

Bad Move, a comedy co-written by and starring Jack Dee, began its six-episode run at 8pm on Wednesday, September 20, and will air each week.

In a statement ITV said: “Filmed in the picturesque North York Moors, Bad Move is a family comedy set in the most stunning countryside location.” Locations include the area round Low Mill and a Rosedale shop.

The programme stars Dee as Steve and Kerry Godliman as his wife Nicky. They play a couple who are both on their second marriages and, inspired by TV relocation shows and lifestyle magazines, have decided to move to the countryside from the city.

Several of the storylines in the show feature issues including flooding to the couple’s home and poor rural internet connectivity.

One resident of Farndale said: “It’s funny because it’s hard to dissociate it from reality - for example the house they move to is described as being ‘in the dip’, but we know it’s up a hill.

“Everyone who lives here is very protective of Farndale - they understand that the internet is intermittent.

“The countryside looks beautiful though, and you scan the views to see if you can see your house.”

Reception to the first episode was mixed, with the i newspaper stating: “Dee is still the master of slipping in pin-sharp lines of his trademark black humour”. The Telegraph, on the other hand, said it has an “all-too-apt title”.
