Billy Bob Thornton has opened up about his marriage to Angelina Jolie
Billy Bob Thornton has told how he "blew" his marriage to Angelina Jolie because he didn't think he was good enough for her.
The Oscar-winning actor - who was married to the Tomb Raider star from 2000 to 2003 - told US TV show Nightline how being with the beautiful actress made him feel like a hideous monster.
Bill Bob said: "Angie, I felt, was definitely too good for me and at some point, if you believe somebody's too good for you, you're going to mess it up.
"I always thought I was sort of Quasimodo or the Phantom Of The Opera hiding in the catacombs. And when I was with her I think that really reached its heights."
He said of their marriage: "I blew it. When you're in a relationship, any two celebrities or whatever, you know, I think that puts on a lot of pressure. When Angie and I got married, during that time, I was more famous than she was to start with and then she becomes this big thing, it's hard in these relationships. People have actually said that I didn't deserve to be with her."
But while Angelina has moved on with fiance Brad Pitt and their six children, Billy Bob said he remains "good friends" with her, and she has written a gushing foreword to his new autobiography The Billy Bob Tapes: A Cave Full Of Ghosts.
The 56-year-old actor also reveals in his book the truth about the rumours he and Angelina used to wear vials of each other's blood around their necks.
He said: "The truth is, Angie and I poked ourselves in the finger and rubbed it all over a glass locket. It was a drop of blood on a locket."
