This is the country's leading open-air museum of its type. It exudes the atmosphere of everyday life for ordinary people from ancient times to the early parts of the 20th century.
A collection of reconstructed local buildings include a cruck-framed long house, Elizabethan manor house, craft workshops with tools, household and agricultural implements, 17th century and Victorian furnished cottages.
The wheelwright's shop has been extended to house the Farndale Hearse - an old horse drawn carriage.
