Pickering Castle, with its fine motte and bailey, was founded by William the Conqueror and was popular with medieval monarchs. It was once a royal hunting lodge. Today it still has curtain walls with three towers, the keep and two halls. There is an education room on site, and an exhibition in the chapel.
Facilities: Gift shop, exhibition, parking, toilets, picnic area, souvenir guide available, education centre. Dogs must be on a lead and owners must take responsibility for their waste.
Disabled Access: Yes, except motte.Toilet.
