SEVEN league games and a Ryedale Hospital Cup semi-final survived the return of wintry weather to Ryedale on Saturday.
The only postponed games were at Kirkdale United in the first division and Amotherby and Swinton 3rds in the second. Kirkdale now have 10 league games to play.
The Ryedale Hospital Cup semi-final saw first division leaders Ryedale Sports Club at home to local rivals Thornton-le-Dale in a keen contest. In the first half Ryedale played against the wind and Peter Darrell's Thornton-le-Dale side defended well to keep Ryedale out. The wind was a massive feature in the game. A Paul Grayson cross found Will Dunnett who just missed with his header. After 20 minutes Dunnett had a good shot superbly saved by Ryedale's Rob Featherstone. From the resultant corner Nick Beech shot over the crossbar, then a minute before half-time Ryedale's Adam Hornby outpaced the Thornton-le-Dale defence but his final shot hit the crossbar and went out for a goal kick.
The second half belonged to Ryedale. They took the lead after 55 minutes when a long throw to the far post saw skipper Heath Brown react the quickest and score. He scored again after 62 minutes, then Marc Dobson scored after 75 minutes and Heath Brown completed his hat-trick 10 minutes from time.
Man of the match winners were hat-trick hero Heath Brown for Ryedale Sports Club and Craig Barnes, Nick Beech and Mark Aconley for Thornton-le-Dale.
In the first division Heslerton completed their league programme when they visited Gillamoor with the home side worthy 2-0 winners. First half goals by Lee Nesfield after excellent work by Alex McCrae and Dave Gardner, who doubled his side's lead when he tapped in a Paul Brackley corner from close range.
Heslerton failed to get back into the game in the second half when they had the better of the wintry conditions.
The Gillamoor man of the match award was shared by Dave Gardner and Shaun Clark.
Aislaby United recorded their sixth league win of a miserable season when they visited Union Rovers and won 5-3. In fact, Aislaby were quick on the start, scoring five goals in the opening 34 minutes by Simon Cook, Paul Mann (2) and Johnny Wilson (2). In between, after 23 minutes Union Rovers scored when Wayne Pilmoor crossed for Dwaine Young to score with a well-struck shot.
In the second half Union scored two further goals, a Chris Weighell own goal and a last minute Peter Tiffeny goal.
Man of the match winners were Dwaine Young for Union Rovers and Paul Mann for Aislaby United.
Old Malton 3rds have finished bottom of the first division, even though their youngsters have played some outstanding football all season.
On Saturday, Kirkbymoorside Reserves were visitors to Old Malton with the Moorsiders winning 6-1.
Daman Cox and Martin Charlton scored for the Moorsiders in the first half. Second half goals followed by Jay Brown, Ryan Rivis (2) and Shaun Cox with Jimmy Tompkinson scoring Old Malton's sole goal.
Man of the match winners were Stuart Corner for Old Malton and Ryan Rivis for Kirkbymoorside.
The Kirkdale United v Rosedale game was postponed at 9.15am on Saturday.
In the second division Ryedale Sports Club reserves, currently second, closed the gap on leaders Bagby and Balk to just six points and Ryedale have a game in hand. These two sides will meet at Ryedale next month.
On Saturday, Ryedale SC Reserves beat Union Rovers 2nds 11-0 a rare double figure score in the league, thanks to goals scored by Andy Roup (2), Steve Stead (2), substitute Marc Dobson (2) and a goal each for Simon Rouph, Chris Rhodes, James Reed, John Reed and substitute Neil Bowling.
Chris Rhodes won the Ryedale man of the match award. For Union Rovers three players shared the award: Sean Willie, Liam Bradshaw and Chris Cooke.

Duncombe Park recovered from the previous week's defeat to Slingsby by beating Old Malton 4ths 2-1 in a very tight game.
Duncombe Park opened the goal scoring in the first half when Nick Allenby scored a fine goal. Dean Sleightholme levelled matters before half-time. In the second half Craig Newton scored the winner with a 12 yard shot after Old Malton's keeper Dave Pugh had parried off a Christian Ardisonne corner.
A good all round team performance won the Duncombe Park man of the match award and Dean Sleightholme won the Old Malton award.
Pro-Pak and Ampleforth had a five goal thriller with Ampleforth gaining their first away win of the season.
Ross Evans scored to put Ampleforth ahead, then Kyle James equalised for ProPak but just before half-time Ed Heard restored Ampleforth's lead.
