RJF Homes-Beckett Football League first division leaders Bagby and Balk were beaten 4-2 at home by next to bottom Heslerton.

It was Hesleton’s first goal of the season as they cruised into a four goal first half lead through Peter Tiffany, Richard Boyes. Rob Preston and Mike Brown.

Bagby and Balk pulled a goal back on the stroke of half time through Dan George scored and Martin Kendal scored Bagby and Balk’s second.

Man of the match for Bagby and Balk was Ben Gilbank, while Heslerton bounced back in style after losing keeper Luke Simpson to Thornton-le-Dale in a midweek transfer.

Simpson’s new team went down 1-0 at home to Kirkbymoorside Reserves, Andrew Collier scoring the only goal with a 35th-minute looping header.

Man of the match winners were Will Dunnett for Thornton-le-Dale, who felt they should have had at least a point, and teenager Ryan Rivis, who played in midfield for Kirkbymoorside Res.

Old Malton 3rds narrowly lost 3-2 to Union Rovers who, thanks to the three points gained, move up into second place.

Richard Abbey and Dave McBurnie scored to put Union two goals ahead. Old Malton stormed back before half-time with goals by Richard Stevenson – an unstoppable 20-yard shot – and a Dean Leadill penalty. Ashley Cooke scored the winner for Rovers. Man of the match winners were Dean Leadill ( Old Malton 3rds) and Richard Abbey (Union).

In division two, St Clements Reserves rescued a point with a late equaliser in a six-goal thriller against Ampleforth who led three times.

Third-placed Ampleforth took the lead when Huw Hodges crossed for Kai Morley to score, Kevin Gainor equalised for the home side but Alex Shields set up Hodges to restore his side’s lead. Early in the second-half Lee Nicholas equalised with a penalty but Ampleforth took the lead for the third time when Tony Dodds scored but a last-minute equaliser by Tom Dowker levelled matters.

St Clements centre-back Chris Rowan and Ampleforth central midfielder Jamie Hogg won the man of the match honours.

Gillamoor Reserves edged a 1-0 win at Amotherby & Swinton 3rds thanks to man of the match Dan Durrant’s 35-yard free-kick scored after 35 minutes.

Union Rovers 2nds lost 1-0 at home to Duncombe Park whose matchwinner was Christian Jones, his goal coming after 10 minute. Union goalkeeper Jon Crown and Park midfielder Dave Otterburn were men of the match.

Amotherby & Swinton 4ths slumped to a 3-0 home loss against Thornton-le-Dale Reserves who moved into fifth position. Andrew Spittlehouse, scored twice in the first half with Simon King adding the third.
