WHITBY Town will visit Stourbridge this weekend after back-to-back games in the FA Cup and Evo-Stick League against Spennymoor Town.

The Seasiders were in league action against Spennymoor last night - just three days after losing to their premier division rivals in the FA Cup second qualifying round.

The only goal of Saturday's game arrived in the 68th minute when Glen Taylor found the net for Spennymoor following excellent work on the wing by Chris Mason.

Mike Roberts wasted a golden opportunity to score for Whitby just after the interval and a Dale Hopson effort was blocked on the line in the final moments.

Manager Chris Hardy had been able to field an unchanged starting eleven for the fifth consecutive game.

Last Tuesday, Whitby beat Ilkeston 2-1 at home in front of a crowd of 242. Hopson scored after 30 minutes before Rory Coleman equalised for the visitors after 33 minutes. The Whitby winner was scored by Matty Tyman after 45 minutes.

Scarborough Athletic are at home to Colne this Saturday, kick-off 3pm, in Evo-Stick first division north.

Athletic, who were in action last night at Farsley Celtic, climbed to fifth in the table last weekend after a 3-2 victory away at Radcliffe Borough.

Elliot Rokka put the home side ahead after 26 minutes before Benny Igiehon equalised five minutes into the second half.

Craig Nelthorpe scored after 76 minutes to put the Seadogs ahead for the first time but Raul Correia equalised three minutes later for Radcliffe.

Jameel Idle scored the decisive goal with a header seven minutes from time to give Athletic a well deserved victory and three vital points.

Striker Paul Beesley, meanwhile, quit Scarborough last week to become player-manager of Northern Counties East League premier division side Harrogate Railway.

Beesley, 32, had only joined Scarborough in the summer after leaving Railway and scored one goal in seven league appearances.

He made an immediate impact in his first game as Railway manager - scoring a late equaliser in a 2-2 draw with Barton Town Old Boys.
