OLD Malton travelled to last year’s premier division champions Riccall United in a must win York Minster Engineering League encounter.

Rovers were unable to strike back, and when Liam Flanagan’s superb free-kick was expertly saved by Tom Young and the rebound cannoned away off a post, the writing was on the wall.

Title favourites Dunnington are nine points clear prior to their visit to second placved Huntington on Saturday.

Dunnington trailed to F1 Racing at Common Road as a George Trifan penalty gave the away side an early lead. Two goals from Tom Richards put the hosts side in command before the break before an F1 equaliser was ruled out for an infringement.

Ben Small then wrapped up a 3-1 win for Dunnington.

Tadcaster Magnets were 2-0 up after six minutes at Copmanthorpe but the hosts struck back through a Robin Bedford volley.

Poppleton United thrashed nine-man Cliffe 12-0 thanks to goals from Joe Dale (3), Luke Wilkinson (3), Alex Janes (2), Tom Reid (2) and Will Edmond (2).

That result lifted them to second following Malton & Norton’s 2-2 draw at home to Heslington.

Dale Holding had struck twice to give Heslington a 2-0 lead with just ten minutes remaining, but Si Reeves despatched a penalty to give his side hope before an own goal sealed a share of the spoils.

Tockwith took the lead at Easingwold Town after 20 minutes, but a goal by Andrew Metcalfe junior on the half-hour ensured honours were even at the end.

James Barrett, Luke Crowther, Mike Braithwaite and Andrew Wilson were on target for Division Two table-toppers Thorpe United as they swept aside Haxby United 4-0.

Curtis Barker struck for Barmby Moor but they went down 3-1 to promotion-chasing Kirkbymoorside.

It was ten out of ten for Wilberfoss in Division Three as they gained a 3-2 win at Selby Olympia.

Si Houlder, Jed Vale and Phil O’Reilly were on target for 'Foss, who now need just four more victories to be certain of promotion.

Russell Cox fired a brace for Jorvik Blades at Cawood but found himself on the losing side as goals from James Darlison, Toby Meadows, Darren Davis and Oliver Tagert (2) gave Cawood a 5-2 success.

With Heworth Green’s game postponed, The Raj took the opportunity to close the gap at the top of Division Four to just eight points as they scored a 3-0 win over New York WMC.

Shane Bogg and Daniel Hunter combined to give The Raj a 2-0 half-time lead but there were chances at both ends in a fast-paced game.

Steve Plummer made a vital goal-line clearance for The Raj with just over ten minutes to go, and Hunter added his second shortly afterwards to seal the win.

Fourth-placed Wetherby Athletic edged a narrow game, triumphing 3-2 at Settrington, while Howden beat Malt Shovel by the same scoreline.
