STAXTON 2nds remained top of Readers Scarborough Beckett League division 'B' after beating Forge Valley 2nds by six wickets at home.

Craig Hill top scored with 46 and Dan Outhart also made 31 for the hosts as they hunted down Valley’s 167 all out.

Thornton Dale gained their first win of term with a 69-run success on the cliff top at Sewerby.

Garth Hunt made 48 and there were also good contributions from all-rounders Lee Oliver and Tim Hunt in Dale's 219. Sewerby’s Steve Wragg made a fine 70, but the all-rounders were at it again as Oliver and Hunt snared six wickets between them as Sewerby ended on 150.

Scalby 2nds beat Ganton after posting 188 in the first innings with Paul Marton hitting a half-century.

In reply, Alastair Limb made 36 and Rob Gretton 25, but Tom Gregory’s 3-38 and Tony Geall’s three wickets for no runs proved too much.

Ravenscar moved up to third by beating Fyingdales by 89 runs. Leading batsman Joe Bayes hit 68 in their 175-6 and Danesh Swaminathan took 4-24 after tea as the hosts eased home, bagging 19 points.

In division 'C', Great Habton smashed Cloughton 2nds to all parts of the ground as they made 283-4 in just 33 overs before declaring.

John Lumley’s aggressive 109 not out was the highlight of the victory, the skipper leading from the front.

Tom Richardson’s fine start to the season then continued as he took 3-0 in four overs of the reply, taking his season’s haul to 11 wickets.

Ryedale travelled to Seamer 2nds and gained a fine five-wicket win after chasing down 167. Gary Newton took 3-41 for the visitors.

In a cracking game, Muston successfully chased down 227 to beat hosts Ebberston 2nds by just one wicket.

Ebberston had posted an excellent 226-9, with Alex Machin (75no), Eddie Craggs (49) and Paul Lockley (43) the main batsmen. They looked on course for victory but Phil Marr had other ideas as he made a superb unbeaten 112 to steer his side to a narrow win.

Wykeham 2nds gained their first win of the season, beating Flamborough by 83 runs. Scott Wardman top scored with 41.
