RICCALL United ousted in-form Dringhouses 3-1 to move eight points clear at the top of the York Minster Engineering Football League premier division.

Reigning champions Old Malton St Mary’s are the only side capable of overhauling the leaders with three games in hand.

After a goalless first half, Riccall finally began to assert and ran out worthy winners thanks to a hat-trick from Gary Collier. Dave Watson replied for Dringhouses.

Malton will travel to sixth-placed Huntington Rovers on Saturday, while Riccall are on cup duty.

Wigginton maintained third position in the table, winning 7-2 after twice falling behind at home to a determined York RI side.

Liam Stilgoe pounced on a mistake to put the visitors in front after 11 minutes, only to see Tom Coates level the scores six minutes later. Five minutes before half-time, Danny Cates broke the Wigginton off-side trap and produced a neat finish to restore the RI lead, but Eddy Clapham fired in a 20-yard free-kick just before the interval.

The second half saw Wigginton establish control and Jordan Holt found the stanchion of the goal with a free-kick ten minutes into the second period. Substitute Josh Luckhurst then added a brace of goals before Clapham scored twice more to complete his hat-trick.

Sam Thompson gave Osbaldwick an early lead at home to fourth-placed Dunnington, but the away side pulled level before the break through Grant Bulmer.

Two late goals from Jonny Andrew and an Osbaldwick error gave Dunnington a 3-1 win and allowed them to stay nine points clear of Church Fenton White Horse in fifth.

Church Fenton coasted to a 6-1 success over visiting Easingwold.

Jon Page set the hosts up for a win with an early strike and this was added to by a Jonny Marshall treble plus an own goal and an individual effort from Lenny Mason.

Huntington Rovers snatched a 1-1 draw with Harrison Signs thanks to a last minute goal by Gary Mitchinson. Dan Temple had earlier given Signs the lead.

Mark Featherstone and Terry Hibbert were on the scoresheet for Copmanthorpe in a 2-1 win over Poppleton United.

In division one, F1 Racing’s title celebrations were put on hold after a 2-1 defeat at Cliffe left them needing a point from their last two games to be certain of the silverware.

F1 took the lead early on but Cliffe drew level when Tom Hogg put away a corner, before Alan Jackson fired home the winner.

Brooklyn kept their outside championship hopes alive with a 3-0 victory at Heslington. Marcus Godsell, Andy Metcalfe and Karl Richardson found the target.

Matty Reeves scored for Malton & Norton, but they were kicking themselves as Tockwith left with a point after a 1-1 draw.

Daniel Hall (2), Steve Neal, Amos Laverack and James MacQuarrie struck for Total Sports in a 5-3 triumph over Hamilton Panthers.
