PICKERING Town increased their unbeaten run to five games on Saturday with a 1-1 draw at Maltby Main following their midweek win over Nostell Miners Welfare.

Maltby are in the bottom half of the Northern Counties East League premier division but are rarely pushovers on their home turf.

Brian Cusworth put them ahead after 18 minutes, but Pickering equalised after 70 minutes through Joel Ramm for the game to end in a draw.

Last Tuesday, the Pikes completed a league double over Nostell when they repelled a late fightback to win 3-2 at the Recreation Ground.

Billy Logan fired the Pikes into the lead after eight minutes and they went three up in the second half with goals by man-of-the-match Sam Calvert, after 51 minutes, and Logan, with his second on 67 minutes.

The Pikes took their foot off the pedal and allowed the visitors to score two goals in the last four minutes through Stephen Wales and Rob Boardman, but they managed to hold on for a vital victory.
