GRAHAM Elvidge and Olly Mitchell joined forces to win the annual Graham Horsfall Memorial Pairs tournament at the Recreation Club, Pickering.

The duo beat saw off 31 other teams, beating Steve Taylor and Rich Webster 4-0 in the final, to take the first prize of £200 on a day of high-quality darts.

The board one final saw Simmy Cass and Liam Dawson race 2-0 up against Jono Bointon and Ash Hodgson, who took leg three in 25 darts as Hodgson hit a 180, plus two 100s.

Cass and Dawson took leg four with a 177, 140 and 100, also in 25 darts, to seal a 3-1 win.

The board two final saw Eric Robinson and Chippy Croft ease to a 3-0 victory over Graham Steel and Nick Cass.

Board three saw Elvidge and Mitchell edge Ady Morris and P Hoggarth in the deciding fifth leg thanks to Mitchell’s double 10, The pair had hit two 140s, 137 and an 81 finish to go one up in 23 darts, Morris and Hoggarth levelling in 20 with a 177, two 140s and a 100.

Board four’s final also went to five legs with Steve Taylor and Rich Webster coming from 2-1 down to snatch victory after Cameron Spiller and Matty Turnbull missed chances.

The first semi-final saw Taylor and Webster hit legs of 27, 25 and 25 to beat Robinson and Croft 3-0, Taylor including a 112 finish and a maximum.

Elvidge and Mitchell beat Cass and Dawson 3-0, hitting seven 100, two 140s and a 180.

In the final, Elvidge and Mitchell hit three 140s to win leg one in 27 darts, two 140s and a 135 to take leg two in 28, and eight ton-plus scores to take legs three and four in 24 and 26.

The event raised £600 for charity.

Meanwhile, New Inn took advantage of leaders Moors Inn’s free week to close the gap at the top of the Moors League to one point.

They won 7-3 at White Swan and 9-1 at home to Blacksmiths Arms.

Swan’s Tim Nichols hit a 180 and Peter Taylor 140 and two 100 while team-mate Keith Eddon checked out on 100 but New Inn took their finishing opportunities well, especially Dave Wray, Mick Hodgson and Mike Ellerby.

Al Hodgson (140), Nie Monkman (140x2, 121, 120, 100) and Mick Hodgson (121, 82 checkout) starred versus Blacksmiths with Adam Durrant claiming the visitors’ consolation.

White Swan bounced back with a 7-3 win at Crown Inn, Tim Nichols (4x100) again on form, while Mark Little hit 171, 121 and 100 for Crown.

Buck Inn ‘A’ edged visitors Sun Inn 6-4 after Nathan Harrison (156), Chris Philllips and Darren Marsh (140) gave them a great start.

Neil Robson, Richard Wilson (125) and Geoff Allen pulled Sun round but Dave Ord’s singles win and both pairs legs saw Buck home.

Buck Inn ‘B’ won 6-4 at Coach House after wins from Mike and Georgie Peirson, Col Ward, Clive Atkinson and Bud Sharples. Trev Dale and Bri Cook replied for Coach but Buck grabbed a pairs to take the match.
