A MOUNTAINOUS task faces North Yorkshire’s most successful golf pro Simon Dyson tomorrow.

That’s when the world number 141 - he has dropped eight places in the global rankings this week - takes on the Black Mountain Golf Club in the True Thailand Classic in Hua Hin.

Dyson goes into the tournament after at last getting on the European Tour board for points and cash in 2015 when he made the half-way cut at the Maybank Malaysian Open.

It was the first time he had appeared in all four rounds this year after starting his 2015 campaign by failing to make the mid-point cuts in three tournaments prior to appearing at the Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club last week.

However, the 37-year-old’s reward was joint 69th position in the event for which he earned just over 5,000 euros.

Dyson was well placed for a top 30 finish after three steady rounds of 72, 73 and 72, but those hopes evaporated when he carded a six-under 78 for a seven-under total - 23 shots adrift of the winner, India’s Anirban Lahiri, who claimed his maiden European Tour crown.
