A LATE flourish crowned a valuable 4-1 success for Pickering Town over Northern Counties East League premier division hosts Glasshoughton Welfare.

After an opener from Joe Danby midway through the first half was cancelled out by an Adam Walsh leveller, Pikes went in at half-time back in front though a Ryan Cooper goal.

But it was not until the last five minutes in which Billy Logan and Andrew Simpson netted, that the Pikes could rest easy with a full grip on a maximum haul.

No such three-point plunder for Selby Town in NCEL division one.

The Robins twice led Eccleshill after first-half strikes from Dane Mortimer and Jamie Forrester, but the second leveller from the visitors a minute into the second half was the last of the scoring action with Selby having to settle for a point.

Knaresborough’s reward was an emphatic zip from their outing at AFC Emley, who triumphed 3-0.

In the Evo-Stik League first division north, Harrogate Railway Athletic were held to a 1-1 draw by hosts Padiham, for whom a penalty from former Blackpool star Brett Ormerod wiped out an opener by Jerry Yates.

Scarborough Athletic were more comfortable winners than suggested by the 2-1 success over Clitheroe. Gary Bradshaw and a Thomas Corner penalty put the Seadogs 2-0 up just before half-time, an advantage that was only halved in the last minute by the visitors’ lone reply.

Harrogate Town were pegged back to honours even by Confer - ence North visitors Leamington.

Andy Gascoigne curled in a free-kick just before the half-time interval for his third strike in as many games, but fellow Spa town ranks Leamington levelled soon into the second half through Danny Newton.
