SINNINGTON recorded a shock win in the Beckett League's Gordon Harrison Memorial Trophy quarter-finals - beating a Wombleton Wanderers side who are undefeated so far in division one.

The Sinners held on to win 2-1 and set up a last-four clash with another high-flying team, Kirkbymoorside reserves.

Both home team Sinnington and Wombleton fielded weakened sides, and the visitors also lost goalkeeper Jake Wilson to injury midway through the second half.

Wilson suffered a knock to the head and tried to carry on but, after conceding two goals in the first 15 minutes of the second half, he came off and was taken to Scarborough Hospital as a precaution.

One of the goals was a Michael Turnbull own goal, while David Wilkinson got the second.

Wombleton rallied towards the end and Jordan Rivis scored with five minutes remaining but they could not get an equaliser to force a penalty shoot-out.

Sinnington's man of the match was Paul Harland while skipper Sean Walker got the award for Wombleton.
