JOHN SMITH and Arthur Gibson won the Pickering League's annual Charlie Davidson Memorial Drawn Pairs competition held at the Recreation Club.
The competition had a total of 40 entrants.
Board one final pitted usual pairs partners Smith and Geoff Atkinson on opposing teams, Smith linking up with Gibson and Atkinson with Jess Golton
Smith and Gibson threw three tons as they took the opening leg and they powered on to a 2-0 victory with a solid 29-darter including four 100s.
Board two saw Nigel Monkman and Steve Turner take on John Rule and Kevin Wilson.
The latter pair threw two 125s and a 100 to take the opener in 30 darts with Rule finishing on 56, and, after a little double trouble, they rounded off the match 2-0.
In the best-of-five final, Rule and Wilson got off to a good start with four 100s and a 123 to take a 2-0 lead via legs of 32 and 34 darts.
They missed several chances to wrap up the match as Smith and Gibson took leg three.
Smith and Gibson hit 140s in leg four to level the contest and in a tight decider Gibson hit 150 to leave Smith double top to win, which he hit to take the match 3-2 in 22 darts.
