NIE MONKMAN’S superb run of wins in the Moors League has finally ended – even though his New Inn side beat visitors Sun Inn 8-2.

It was Martyn Allen who beat him, ending his sequence of 59 consecutive wins.

The reliable Neil Robson (4x100) also got on the scoresheet for Sun, but Sarah Hodgson (140), Ady Cook (121), Al Hodgson, Mick Ellerby (133) and Dave Wray (2x100) did the damage for the home side.

Moors Inn continued setting the pace at the top after a comprehensive demolition of Buck Inn ‘A’.

Mick Barnes was the pick of the Moors side, hitting two 140s and a 100 as he beat Dave Ord (140).

Sam Dickson (140, 2x100) and Keith Dickson (121, 100) also shone for Moors in the 9-1 rout, with Dave Phillips (3x100) grabbing Buck’s consolation point.

Buck Inn ‘B’ led 4-3 at Crown Inn after the individuals through Georgie Peirson, Bud Sharples, Mike Peirson (96 finish) and Mike Wilson, with Norman Tinsley, Steve Winfield (78 finish) and Mark Little (140) replying for Crown. Buck moved up a gear to take all the pairs and threes for a tidy 7-3 victory.

Adam, Matt and Lucy Durrant shot Blacksmiths Arms into a 3-0 lead at Coach House before Bri Cook (2x140, 2x100) and Jimmy Porter stopped the rot.

Rich Sellars (75 finish) and Mally Durrant made it 5-2 to the visitors who then added a pairs win and the three-a-side for a comfortable 7-3 final scoreline.

Meanwhile, the Pickering Rec Club Individual League is shaping up to be a five-man race for the four finals night places.

A five-point gap has opened up between the top five and bottom five and it is Phil Bointon who leads the way after another two victories, beating John Bristow 5-0 and doubles partner Steve Taylor 4-1 - despite Taylor out-scoring him with three 140s and six tons. Clinical finishing gave Bointon full points.

Taylor earlier lost 3-2 to Jon Rule as Rule checked out 88 and 74 before Taylor took out a 110 finish.

Simmy Cass kept up his good form with a 3-2 win over Rich Webster in which the players shared 13 100-plus scores. Cass also thrashed John Bristow 5-0.

Alan Dawson likewise picked up two wins, beating Geoff Atkinson 3-2, with 10 100-plus scores, and Rich Webster 4-1, with 11 100-plus scores and a tremendous 139 checkout.

Billy Hague took two wins - against the luckless Dawson who should have opened a 4-0 lead but missed doubles, and then Jon Rule 4-1 in the match of the night as both players averaged well into the 70s.

In the ‘B’ league, Steve Dawson has a three-point lead over young Liam Dawson, who had a terrific night with two fine displays hitting 18 100-plus scores.

Steve Dawson took his record to eight wins from eight played by coming back from 2-0 down to beat Arthur Gibson 3-2 and seeing off Dave Twaddle by the same score.

Jonny Smith rose to third with two victories, while Graham Love, now finding form, sits a close fourth.

Adam Simpson picked up his first leg of the season albeit in a 4-1 defeat to Smith.

Working Men’s Club narrowed the gap to Pickering League leaders Black Swan on Sunday thanks to a narrow win at Sun Inn.

Al Hodgson struck first blood for Sun Inn but WMC hit back to lead 3-1 helped by Neil Eddon hitting four 100s.

Nigel Monkman pulled a point back with a handy 117 finish and Sun Inn levelled in the pairs with Liam Dawson firing a maximum 180, but the Club held their nerve to snatch the decider for a 4-3 victory.

Recreation Club stormed to a fine 6-1 victory over Royal Oak with Graham Love opening their account with a tidy 79 outshot.

Phil Bointon hit three 140s and two 100s on his way to beating Steve Dawson who replied with five 100s.

Jono Bointon got Bay Horse off to a good start against Bar 4 when hitting two 140s and a 48 finish, and Liam Allanson made it 2-0 with a 60 finish. However, Bar 4 struck back to take the match 4-3.

The clash between Horseshoe ‘A’ and Horseshoe ‘B’ was postponed.
