A MAGNIFICENT seven stretched Tadcaster Albion’s lead at the top of the Northern Counties East League premier division to six points.

The Brewers thrashed ten-man hosts Liversedge 7-0 while title rivals Shaw Lane Aquaforce were stalled by the rain which caused the postponement of their home game against Bridlington.

Two goals from Calum Ward, plus strikes by Carl Stewart, Jonathan Greening, Josh Greening, Josh Barrett and David Brown, earned Albion their biggest win of the campaign.

Stewart opened the scoring from the penalty spot on five minutes and Ward made it 2-0 at the break before adding his second on 55 minutes.

Jonathan Greening bagged his first for the club on 68 minutes and the Brewers added three in the last ten minutes from Josh Greening, Barrett and Brown.

Manager Paul Marshall said: “It’s great to score seven goals. It’s helped other teams getting games cancelled because we are six points clear. They are all chasing us now.”

Pickering Town were held to a 1-1 draw by visitors Garforth Town.

Wayne Aziz headed the Pikes into a 59th minute lead at Mill Lane, but Garforth levelled only two minutes later through Nick Black.

Harrogate Town were without a game in Conference North.

Three goals in the last 20 minutes wrecked Harrogate Railway’s hopes of victory at Radcliffe Borough in Evo-Stik League division one north. Rail led through Nathan Cartman’s 20th minute penalty, but Samual Grimshaw made it 1-1 with a goal a minute before half-time.

The visitors took a grip of the game in the second half as Malachi Farquharson netted on 57 minutes and Adam Baker made it 3-1 on 62 minutes.

However, Chris Mason started the Radcliffe revival on 70 minutes, Malachi Slaven equalised four minutes later and then Mason hit the winner from the penalty spot with 12 minutes remaining.

Scarborough Athletic went down 2-1 at home to Northwich Victoria, who also staged a late fightback.

Gary Bradshaw put Scarborough into a fourth minute lead, but Brian Summerskill squared up the scores on 70 minutes and Bohan Dixon’s 84th minute goal won it.

Selby Town went downb 4-2 at Yorkshire Amateur Knaresborough Town trailed Pontefract Collieries 2-0 at home at half-time and were unable to recover despite a 59th minute goal by Luke McCrum.
