DIVISION one basement side Ryedale Sports Club enjoyed respite from their Scarborough & District League struggles as they won 6-2 at third division outfit Commercial in the League Cup.

Victory came courtesy of hat-tricks by Martin Foxton and Jack Hall.

In the League Trophy, Snainton lost on penalties at home to Duchess.

Tim Jackson put Duchess ahead but Snainton equalised in normal time. There were no more goals in extra time so the tie went to a shoot-out, which Duchess won 3-2.

Whitby RUFC beat Ayton reserves thanks to a late super strike from substitute Dave Welham.

Goals from Paul Jobling and Damon Craig had put Whitby into a commanding lead only for Ayton to come back to level matters through Mark Craven and Chris Milburn.

In the first division, Ayton were edged out in a nine-goal thriller at home to United Sports Bar.

Tom Williamson opened the scoring for USB but Ayton stormed back to lead 3-1. USB levelled with goals by Matty Turner and Williamson for the first half to end all square at 3-3.

USB regained the lead as Williamson completed a hat-trick and Tommy Day made it 5-3 before Ayton grabbed a goal with 15 minutes remaining to set-up a nervy finale.

Sleights beat Hunmanby United 2-0 thanks to a first-half goal by Luke Asbury and a second-half strike by Sam Wiggins from an Asbury cross.

In the second division, Scalby were shocked 4-0 by Newlands Park reserves for whom Matthew Shone, James Tadman, Stefan Moon and an own goal found the net.

Seamer Sports reserves maintained an impressive start to their third division campaign when they beat Scalby reserves 7-0 thanks to goals by Kris Tate, Matty Drury, Matty Dawson, Matty Burling, Craig Love and Conner Myerscough (2).

Tennyson and Westover reserves drew 1-1 - Aiden Cooper put the hosts ahead and Neal Castleton replied.

Meanwhile, in the North Riding County FA Saturday Challenge Cup, West Pier won 10-2 at fellow Scarborough League outfit Whitby Fishermen - Neil Thomas hitting six of the goals.

Edgehill drew 1-1 at Kader before winning a penalty shoot-out 5-4 thanks to another spot-kick save from Liam Salt.

The Pickering Town striker, again donning the gloves for his parks club, had likewise been a shoot-out hero seven days earlier in the Scarborough FA District Cup tie against Brooklyn.

Carl Hepples was Edgehill’s marksman in normal time.

Newlands Park and Lingdale United will have to play their tie again after referee Oliver O’Brien limped out with a hamstring injury after 30 minutes. Newlands were leading 1-0 through Jack Hakings.

Seamer Sports lost at Richmond Mavericks, while Athletico 2B fell 6-1 at home to Ouseburn United.
