THE early leaders of the Moors League, Moors Inn, got off to a slow start at Sun Inn as Geoff Allen (3x100 scores), Martyn Allen (140) and Richard Wilson (2x100) shot the hosts into a 3-0 lead.

Moors sprung into action through Sam Dickson, Andrew Tock, Keith Dickson (121, 100) and Derek Bannister (2x100 and 80 finish) to turn the match around before a pairs win from Paddy Meade and Nigel Aconley (140) and a three-a-side point sealed a 6-4 victory for the visitors.

New Inn took both pairs and the threes to beat visitors Buck Inn ‘A’ 7-3 after close individual legs.

Nie Monkman (140, 2x100), Mick Ellerby, Mike Hodgson and Dave Wray (2x100) won points for the home side while Dave Phillips, Darren Marsh (140, 121, 100) and Dave Ord (120) replied for Buck.

Draw specialists White Swan were at it again at Buck Inn ‘B’, but after trailing 3-0 were probably relieved to recover to 5-5.

Georgie Peirson, Col Ward and Mike Peirson (2x100) put Buck ahead before Keith Eddon (121, 80 finish), Neil Eddon (2x100) and Tim Nichols (121) pulled Swan level.

Paul Carter recorded a 180 for White Swan.

Crown Inn led 4-3 at Coach House after the individual legs thanks to Steve Winfield, Mark Little, Gillian Little and Darren Sunley (120). Matt Cook (75 finish), Laura Thompson (140) and Bri Cook (3x100) hit back for Coach who levelled through the pairing of Matt Cook and Bradley Collins (118, 114).

Crown regrouped to take the next two legs and a close 6-4 victory.

Meanwhile, Phil Bointon went top of the Pickering Rec Club Individual League following two tough matches.

Bointon beat Roger Dawson 3-2 before going down by the same score to Alan Dawson in a high-quality match which saw the two players share 22 100-plus scores, Bointon hitting a maximum and a 15 dart leg.

Alan Dawson recorded his second win of the night when beating Steve Taylor 3-2, including a 16-dart leg.

John Bristow beat Rich Webster 4-1 before going down 3-2 to Roger Dawson in a tight tussle. Webster’s miserable night was compounded by Jon Rule who beat him 5-0.

Billy Hague had the best leg of the league so far, hitting a 13-darter in a 5-0 win over Geoff Atkinson, who earlier had beaten Rule 4-1. Hague continued with a 3-2 win over Taylor.

In the ‘B’ division, Steve Dawson put himself in the box seat with another two wins, beating Liam Dawson 3-2 in a terrific match with legs of 17, 18 and 19 darts and Jon Bointon 4-1.

Dave Twaddle recorded two wins to keep pressure on Dawson, while young Liam Dawson is showing his potential with consistent darts which have took him to second in the table. Adam Simpson is still looking for his first leg of his debut season.
