SNAINTON bagged a vital win in the second division of the Scarborough & District League on Saturday, beating fellow strugglers Duchess.

The 2-0 triumph - Snainton's first win in seven attempts - came courtesy of goals scored by Josh Beach in the first half and Tom Haldenby, from the penalty spot, 10 minutes from time.

Cayton Corithians hammered West Pier reserves 10-3 with Luke Newbold netting four goals and Josh Venner a hat-trick.

Isaac Sands (2) and Curtis Foreman also scored.

Edgehill reserves had an even bigger win, 11-1 over Rosette, with Martyn Ferrey another hat-trick man.

Mikey Barker, John-Paul Watson and Andy Noon all grabbed braces, with Macie Kapynski and Damien Robinson also on target.

Filey Town reserves saw off Newlands Park reserves 4-1 for their sixth win in six league games so far.

Joe Gage and Tom Scales both scored doubles with Martyn Jenkinson netting a penalty in reply.

Whitby RUFC beat Athletico 2B 6-2, although they were flattered by the scoreline.

Paul Jobling opened the scoring for Whitby but Shaun Dodson’s header levelled matters by half-time.

In the second stanza, the Whitby side went 5-1 clear through Dave Welham, with a penalty, Ben Sullivan, Marc Usher and Sam Richardson. Shaun Goodwin pulled one back for Athletico 2B but a late own goal sealed the result.

With the league programme affected by local FA cup ties, the only game played in the first division on Saturday saw Westover Wasps beat Sleights 3-1.

Liam Buglass, Ryan Matson and James Seymour gave Westover a three-goal half-time lead, with Sleights pulling a goal back in the second half.
